Bisous Minerals Makeup Review

I stumbled upon Bisous Minerals (www.bisousminerals.com) over a year ago and have to say, I believe I've found my holy grail. Their philosophy regarding mineral makeup really resonated with me. However, the thing that really sold me was their custom blending service which they provide at no additional charge.

I initially ordered their 4-Piece Sample Kit which came with a free travel mini kabuki brush. After testing the different colors, I realized that my skintone was between fair and light and my undertone was golden. I ended up purchasing their Mini-Kit which included a full size foundation, full size finishing veil, 2 synthetic brushes (one is a flat-top and the other a powder brush). Bisous Minerals custom blended for me a Fair-Light Golden foundation. No more wasting money buying several shades and having to mix them to get the correct shade.

I love the foundation coverage and how it looks on my face, not shiny but also not matte and their finishing veil is amazing. The synthetic brushes included in the Mini-Kit are the best I have ever used. I ended up throwing away my natural hair brushes.

I experienced no itching or rash, and it kept my oiliness at bay. I can't say enough about Bisous Minerals and have recommended several friends to the brand. They too are extremely happy. Their prices are pretty reasonable, they're not the cheapest but not the most expensive.

A brief background on myself: I am a 28yr old Southeast Asian woman who suffers from moderate to severe adult-acne with excessive oily skin. Mineral makeup was recommended by my dermatologist and has been a godsend for me. I initially started with Bare Escentuals as I had seen their infomercials. Unfortunately, I experienced itching, breakouts, and didn't like the "shiny" appearance.

I then tried other mineral makeup from major to minor brands such as Sheer Coverage, L'Oreal Bare Naturale, Physicians Formula, Everyday Minerals, and Face Value. I was never quite happy with the performance or coverage of the makeup and had difficulty finding a color that would match my skintone, it was either too pink, too orange, or too yellow. I also discovered that a common ingredient in a lot of mineral makeup, bismuth oxychloride, is actually a synthetic mineral and that boron nitride, a high end mineral, also caused me to itch and breakout.

Good pure ingredients found in these cosmetics. They make quite a few products but here are the ingredients from a few:

Weightless Lasting Foundation: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, Iron Oxides, Silica, Allantoin.

Translucent and Tinted Glow Finishing Veils: Mica, Silica, Titanium Dioxide. May contain Iron Oxides.

Bronzer: Mica, Iron Oxides, Zinc Oxide

If you check these products out make sure to look at their ingredient page. They have a nice ingredient comparison for some of the major brands.

Good well organized site with plenty of helpful information to make trying mineral makeup easier.

Elegant Minerals Review

This company offers a huge selection of products and colors, affordability AND wonderful customer service! You will not be disappointed with your order and they offer so many samples items with very generous quantities, not just a single application.

You can get a sample kit including 4 foundations, 2 setting powders, 3 eyeshadows and 3 blushes for only $10! Even better, YOU get to choose all of the colors. They also offer a $10 skin care sample kit. They are currently offering a great promotion to become an independent distributor.

Simple ingredients of titanium dioxide, mica and iron oxide. No bismuth or micronized minerals and provides sun protection of spf 15. Mineral makeup does provide sun protection but for a company to claim any spf they are supposed to be tested. This is to make sure that the makeup does indeed protect the skin and to what level. This can be expensive which is why you don't see very many mineral makeup companies claiming that their products provide a specific level of protection.

Elegant Minerals carries quite a few other cosmetics and skin care products that are cruelty free. They are also approved by the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics.

bare X minerals makeup review

After a few months of using bareXminerals mineral makeup I feel, and reaffirm to myself that mineral makeup is definitely one special thing in this life that I am incorporating in my makeup routine - forever!

I bought bareXminerals 4 pc mineral makeup kit. I thought that I’m buying Bare Escentuals bare id minerals, as usual, but bought this brand by mistake. I was really surprised with the results of this makeup.

Foundation look very natural, give good coverage without aging me (I'm 38)
Concealer helps to conceal my redness on cheeks and leaves skin silky and smooth. Gives perfect coverage.

I’m wearing makeup everyday all-day but it doesn’t feel at all.

Everyone keeps telling me how well I look.
Sometimes little mistakes gives great discovery !!!

RAW Minerals Makeup Review

Yes, I decided to give Mineral Makeup a try and chose RAW Minerals. (First of all, the free trial, except for shipping - will cost you $90 if you don't send it back in a certain timeframe, plus you must CANCEL a membership you don't realize you have, or you'll be getting shipments every 2 months and your charge card that you used to pay for shipping will be charged.)

Decided to go ahead and 'try it' (then I could return it) since I opened the box, just to see what mineral makeup was like. The look was terrifically perfect, easy to apply, didn't feel dry...felt more like having nothing on, but looked out of this world gorgeous!

But about 4-5 hours later I looked in a mirror and got the shock of a lifetime...out celebrating Valentine's with my sweetie and my whole face was "as orange as a pumpkin" and no longer smooth or beautiful. I was so embarrassed!

Maybe there's something to put onto skin, before applying Mineral Makeup, that would prevent this. But every company I've emailed says their's doesn't do that...but apparently that's not true. If I could have kept the look that it was when I first did it, it would be worth $90 every 2 months.

Below are the ingredients in RAW Minerals Foundation:

Bismuth Oxychloride, Mica, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Pisum Sativum (Pea) Extract, Hydrated Silica, Dimethicone, Ribose, Glycine Soja (soybean) Germ Extract.
May Contain (+/-): Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides.

This company says they combine nature and science to create their line that includes both beauty and skin care products. As you can see Bismuth Oxychloride is the first ingredient which some women find they are sensitive to after they use it. One great reason to try samples but this company only offers a free trial pack that Wanda mentioned above.

Wondering about some of the other ingredients?

These ingredients are where science combines with nature.

Silica or silicone dioxide is found in abundance in nature and we know it as sand. Hydrated silica is a clear gel that when dried and turned into a powder attracts moisture from the air.

Dimethicone is the result of manipulating silicone until it forms polymers. In this instance I am assuming it is being used for emollient and skin protecting benefits.

Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer is a silicone elastomer cosmetic powder that provides a silky feel, less greasy, water repellent, easy to apply mat finish(from Dow Corning).

These ingredients are used in a variety of makeup products. They are generally considered safe by the Skin Deep Database but Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer has yet to be assessed so it leaves you wondering. One of those little quirks that makes the database confusing at times.

This company (from their website) is a signer of the Compact for Safe Cosmetics, uses biodegradeable ingredients sourced from sustainable resources, follows fair trade practices, uses biodegradable and recycled packaging, does not test on animals.

Body Shop Mineral Makeup

I found the Body Shop mineral foundation gave quite good coverage, but on drier patches of skin was unflatteringly noticable. I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing it out.

I am wondering if this reviewer only had this problem with this particular brand of mineral makeup. I have found that dry patches are harder to deal with with most any makeup. My makeup goes on so much smoother when I exfoliate, moisturize and make sure to allow the moisturizer time to dry.

This particular product from The Body Shop called Nature's Mineral Foundation contains all natural ingredients. The two here that I haven't seen used in other mineral makeups that have been reviewed so far are the minerals Kaolin and Illite. Both of these are clays that should help absorb oils and help bind the makeup to the skin.

ACTIVE INGREDIENTS: Titanium Dioxide (24.4%). INGREDIENTS: Kaolin, Illite. May Contain: Mica, Iron Oxides

I have always admired Anita Rodrick the founder of the Body Shop who led the way in sourcing fair trade ingredients and in creating products that were and I believe still are cruelty free. Loreal, the present owner, has maintained these values and hopefully will eliminate animal testing themselves.

Everyday Minerals review

Everyday minerals makeup is pretty good. The coverage is decent enough for me. I break out rather frequently and so I like to hide any red marks from zits. I use their foundation and their multi-tasking concealer in order to achieve the best coverage.

They also offer 4 different formulas for all of their foundations and I find mixing the original glow with matte or intensive gives you a slightly dewy look that I really enjoy although it's not quite as dewy looking as Bare Minerals, which rather saddens me. But, if you like the matte look, then their matte or intensive formulas would be great.

Their makeup is very inexpensive compared to other leading brands of mineral makeup, which is a plus and their flat top face brush is the best brush I've ever used. They are surely worth a try and they do offer free sample kits so you can find a good foundation match for your skin tone. I'm thinking of giving Afterglow brand a try though just to see if I get a more glowy, dewy look.

For anyone considering Everyday Minerals here are the ingredients:

Mica (CI 77019), Titanium Dioxide (CI77891), Iron Oxide (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Chromium Oxide Greens (CI 77288), Ultramarines (CI 77007). *Original Glo and Semi-Matte contain zinc oxide (CI 77947).

Mahya Mineral Makeup rerview

I have tried using Bare Minerals as well and have the same experience with itching. I almost gave up on mineral makeup when a friend introduced me to Mahya's Mineral Makeup. I swear by it and will never use anything else again!

It does not have bismuth in it which is what broke my face out in the first place and gives me as good or even better coverage then BE!!!!!! My favorite part of Mahyas Mineral Makeup is the multi purpose eyeshadows!!!!!!! You can use it not only on your eyes but use the same mineral on your lips, nails, and eyeliner!

Its crazy but works amazingly! I also got a promo code with my last order and you can use it and get 20% of online if you enter it. s43ma4n59 I think this code can be used for anyone. Try it and see. The prices way less then most mineral companies as well. Wanted to share my experience and also the 20% off code to anyone who wants to try Mahya's Mineral Makeup...

Below are the ingredients for Mahya Mineral Makeup:

FOUNDATION: Mica (CI 77019), Zinc Oxide (CI 77947), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77489, 77491, 77492, 77499), Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea Extract), Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C).
May Contain (+/-): Sericite (CI 77019), Kaolin, Ultramarines (CI 77007), Ferric Ferrocyanide (CI 77510), Zea Mays (Corn Starch).

They are a signer of the Compact for Safe Cosmetics and are cruelty free.

They offer a nice selection of mineral makeup in colors that should work for just about any skin tone. They also have an interesting section just for teens with makeup in shades that should appeal more to them. Our teens are perhaps some of the biggest users of makeup and so much of the stuff they use contains lots chemicals. It seems like a great idea to give them safe options that are cool enough for them.

Glow Minerals Makeup Review

I have always been skeptical of mineral makeup because my sister uses it and it looks awful (she uses Bare Minerals); but because of asthma I am trying to find things that don't get into my body and cause cell inflammation or hormone upheavals.

What I found was Glow Minerals and I am realy pleased with it. They send you a bronzer, two foundations, which you can mix, and a finishing product with SPF and brushes. I have ruddy skin and melesma and it covers well. I do have to use a concealer because of a birth mark but I know I would with anything no matter what they say. It covers well and leaves my skin feeling smooth and silky not dirty and heavy.

I like the fact that they send two foundations that you can blend to match because skin tone changes with the seasons. The only thing that I don't like and I think it is totally unnecessary is the cost. It is $90 after a trial time and a membership comes with it to which they send you makeup. I'm sorry but no make up I don't care where it comes from or how it is made is worth that. That is probably the only thing I don't like about it. The cost is totally unacceptable.

I checked out their website and did not find a list of ingredients or very much info about their products. There so many good mineral makeup products that aren't expensive, use great ingredients and are committed to no animal testing. Just take a look through the other reviews for some ideas.

Sheer Cover Mineral Makeup Review

I decided to try Sheer Cover Mineral Makeup after watching the infomercial for it several times. It seemed to be simple to apply, and it was cheaper than other mineral makeups that I had looked into purchasing.

I received the 'medium' toned set, as I was told when I ordered that it was ideal for most Caucasian women. This set was far to dark for my very light toned skin, and looked almost orange, even with the lightest application. I called the company, who then sent me the 'light' toned set, completely free of charge. I tried using only the lighter of the two colors (which you receive in each kit), and even that was no where near the right shade. All of the Sheer Cover mineral makeup colors I tried had very yellow undertones, and my skin is primarily pink undertones, so it did not look natural. I again called the company, so that I could return both kits, and they offered to send me their new 'ultra-light' toned kit, again completely free of charge.

The 'ultra-light' toned kit was a much better match. I used the powdered minerals frequently, as they gave me fairly even coverage, so I didn't feel the need to use the cream concealer. The concealer doesn't seem to work too well on uneven skin (lines under eyes, slight bumps, etc.), as it ends up highlighting the blemish rather than concealing it. That said, it was worth the price for the powdered minerals alone, as they did a great job and lasted quite some time for me.

I really liked the ultra-light set, and my experience with their customer service absolutely blew me away - I never expected a company to send me three different products & not ask me to return the ones I previously received. However, it did take quite a long time on the phone with them to cancel the auto-shipments (I started ordering the make-up only when I needed it, and only the powders). They tried for about 15-20 minutes, offering me deals so that I would not cancel the shipments.

The other things I want to know before buying this or any skin care products are the ingredients and if it is cruelty free and it's good to see environmentally friendly packaging. I checked out Sheer Cover through their website.

I did find an ingredient list for their mineral makeup and checked on a couple of ingredients that I found boron nitride and bisabolol, ingredients that were a little different than other mineral makeup I have seen. Both of these ingredients are listed as low hazard by the Skin Deep Cosmetic Database. Of concern to those with sensitive skin was bismuth oxychloride which has been found to be an irritant for some individuals.(may cause rashes, breakouts etc.)

Ingredients list for Sheer Cover from website:

Mineral Foundations: Active Ingredients: Zinc Oxide (12.00%). Other Ingredients: Boron Nitride, Bisabolol, Aspalathus Linearis Leaf Extract, May Contain (+/-): Bismuth Oxychloride (CI 77163), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Mica, Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499)

I did not find an ingredient list for the other products in their line or any info on animal testing.

Bare Minerals Makeup Review

I bought Bare Minerals makeup thinking that it would help my skin and feel lighter than my regular foundation. I got prepared to apply the makeup, I washed my face, moisturized, then swirled and tapped. It went on easily enough, but it didn't work as I expected it to. I was highly disappointed. The makeup was dry and cake-y, and even the lightest color did not match my skin.

At the time I had an acne break out and the coverage did nothing for me. After I worked with it for a while, though it covered very little, I decided to leave it on my skin to see how long it would last. Even with the mineral veil, it wore off after a couple of hours.

I am highly interested in the idea of mineral makeup: A makeup that is good for your skin and that you can sleep in! I don't think I would have dared to sleep with this makeup on my face, for it surely would have stained my pillow.

My grandmother also bought a set of Bare Minerals Makeup and she hated it. This is definitely not makeup for people with wrinkles or fine lines, because it settles in all of those undesirable places. I was not impressed with this makeup.

Magic Minerals review

Being eye-catching is actually a virtue which we more or less all want to keep up, however possible, as long as we tend to live.

Magic Minerals make up is a great anti-inflammatory for your skincare, it does not comprise of bismuth oxychloride which experts claim is liable for causing dermal itchiness. Such a beauty product is not commonly affiliated with almost any type of allergic reaction and also doesn’t have any expiration time.

Magic Minerals make up range of beauty items are reputed for their high quality as well as item excellence. Mineral make-up is mainly what the guy specializes in and the mineral powder has already transformed numerous dull facial looks.

Important features

Magic minerals, as the name indicates, ıs really a mineral powder that has built-in shade fixers (meant for masking blemishes, if present) plus it is self repairing. It comes in just one single color and has neither any talc or any kind of impurities.

Terra Firma Cosmetics Review

I Ordered Terra Firma Mineral Makeup H2O. It is a loose mineral in powder form but is infused with their naturally occuring nutrient water. I love the way it fills in my pores and lines. No shiny Bismuth. It didn't matter how much I put on it looked great.Their natural lipstains are wonderful, primrose is my favorite.

Terra Firma is a signer of the Compact for Safe Cosmetics and does not do animal testing. This particular product which is part of a complete line of cosmetics contains more ingredients than most mineral makeup. It is rated a 5 on the Skin Deep Database.

Most mineral makeups get a higher rating anyway because there are concerns over ingredients that can be inhaled. The silica (sand), used in this product, when ground fine has the possibility of inhalation along with concerns over the phenoxyethanol contributes to this products rating of a 5 which puts it in the mid range.

According to their website the nutrient water penetrates the skin moisturizing and providing vitamins to nourish and protect the skin.

Below are the ingredients from this particular product. This is not a vegan product it does contain silk powder.

Ingredients from website:Serecite, Titanium Dioxide,Zinc Oxide,Magnesium,Stearate,Boron Nitride,Silk Powder,Lauryl Lysine,Silica,Aloe Barbadensis(aloe leaf)Juice,Fulvic Acid,Deionized Water,Carbomer,Corn Starch,Brown Oxide,Yellow Oxide Phenoxyethanol,Caprylyl Glycol,Potassium Sorbate.
